DRAPER, UT, May 7, 2004. FrameRate, the leading provider of complete multimedia delivery solutions, announced today the release of DiaLink™, a feature allowing viewers to select programming on public, educational, and government access channels by using their touch-tone telephone.
The module, now incorporated within FrameRate's Millennium ContentServer, greatly expands the utility of bulletin-board channels on access television by allowing the community to select the programming they will see rather than having to wait for it to play in a loop.
In operation, access channel viewers dial a telephone number and enter program selection codes using their touch-tone keypad. Each code is associated with a particular topic. Playback of bulletins for the selected topic begins immediately. Upon completion, the system returns to normal programming.
"For information-rich access channels, DiaLink eliminates the need to watch dozens of information slides while waiting for that one piece of information you need, " said James Harvey, President and CEO of FrameRate. "For example, an entire set of bulletins for a single topic, such as Parks and Recreation, can be accessed by the community instantly without waiting, simply by dialing a local phone number and entering a selection code. Complete video-on-demand programming is possible by simply assigning selection codes to video programming stored on the system."
DiaLink is a powerful tool that allows immediate selection of thousands of topics of interest to your community. Examples include community bulletins, emergency telephone numbers, Amber Alerts, video programs, safety announcements, and more.
