FrameRate® Releases CGLink™ Web-Accessible Character Generator

SANDY, UT, May 6, 2003. FrameRate, the leading provider of complete multimedia delivery solutions, announced today the release of CGLink - a web-accessible character generator that greatly simplifies posting emergency messages and public announcements on-air over a cable or broadcast television channel.

Before CGLink, placing an emergency message or public announcement on-air required operation of proprietary software located at the cable headend. Only a small number of people were trained to perform this action. The operator, in most cases, had to go to the headend or to their place of work to use the system. Now, with CGLink, the operator can interact with the character generator through an easy-to-use, form-based service from a web site on an internal intranet or the Internet. This makes it easy for emergency service workers to get information out to the public. Instead of hours, messages can be posted in seconds.

Operation is simple! To post a message, you simply fire up your web browser, log on using a secure user name and password, enter your message into a form field and click QuickCrawl™. The message immediately appears on the output of the character generator and on-air.

CGLink is a full-featured character generator offering storage for hundreds of pages of material that can be scheduled for playback as full-screen messages or as a crawl at the bottom of the screen. The system accepts NOAA weather data as well as date from local weather systems such as Davis Instruments.

CGLink is available as a software application, a software service, or as a complete turnkey product bundled with the character generator.
